Choosing a podcast host isn’t the most exciting part of starting a podcast. You’d probably rather think about microphones, guests, episode ideas, or your cover art. But your hosting platform matters.

It’s where your episodes live, where your RSS feed is managed, and where you’ll probably check your podcast statistics every week. Three names you’ll regularly come across are Libsyn, Blubrry, and Buzzsprout.

All three can handle the basic job of hosting a podcast, but they approach it differently. Buzzsprout puts a lot of emphasis on simplicity and beginner-friendly tools.

Blubrry is particularly attractive for WordPress users and podcasters who want more control over their website and publishing setup.

Libsyn is one of the longest-running podcast hosts and has developed a strong combination of hosting, analytics, video distribution, and monetization tools.

So which one should you choose? Let’s compare Libsyn vs Blubrry vs Buzzsprout.

Libsyn vs Blubrry vs Buzzsprout: Quick Overview

If I had to simplify the comparison, I’d put it like this: Buzzsprout is my pick for beginners. Blubrry is my pick for WordPress users.

Libsyn is a strong choice for established podcasters focused on analytics, distribution, and monetization.

That doesn’t mean you can’t use Libsyn as a beginner or Buzzsprout for a successful show.

You absolutely can. These are simply the areas where each service stands out.

Buzzsprout

Buzzsprout is one of the easiest podcast hosts to understand. That’s a bigger advantage than it might sound.

When you’re starting a podcast, you’re already trying to learn recording, editing, RSS feeds, directories, artwork, microphones, and promotion.

You don’t need your hosting dashboard making things even more confusing.

Buzzsprout lets you upload episodes, create and manage your RSS feed, distribute your podcast, view statistics, create a podcast website, generate transcripts, and use monetization tools.

Current paid plans also include unlimited episodes, advanced stats, dynamic content, custom embed players, and unlimited team members. There’s a free plan too, which makes it easy to experiment before paying.

The free plan currently allows two hours of uploads during each cycle, although episodes are hosted for only 90 days. For a complete beginner, Buzzsprout is probably the platform I’d look at first.

Blubrry

Blubrry has been part of podcasting for more than two decades. Its biggest difference is the relationship it has built with WordPress. Blubrry makes PowerPress, a popular WordPress podcasting plugin.

PowerPress allows you to manage podcast publishing through your WordPress website.

That can be extremely useful if your website is already an important part of your content business.

Instead of having your website over here and your podcast publishing workflow somewhere completely separate, you can connect the two.

Blubrry’s hosting plans also include a managed WordPress website, podcast statistics, audio and video publishing, AI tools, unlimited downloads, and distribution.

In 2026, Blubrry changed its hosting structure to make pricing easier to understand. Its newer plans are based on how many hours of content you publish each month rather than file sizes.

For WordPress users, Blubrry remains one of the most interesting hosting choices.

Libsyn

Libsyn is another company that has been around since the early days of podcasting. Today, it’s much more than basic MP3 hosting.

Current plans include audio and video hosting, IAB-verified analytics, multi-user access, customizable podcast websites, and monetization features. Libsyn also puts a lot of emphasis on distribution.

You can use the platform to get your podcast onto major listening destinations, while its video tools support destinations such as YouTube and, on applicable plans, Spotify video.

Monetization is another major part of the platform. Libsyn offers automatic podcast advertising, host-read advertising opportunities, PodRoll, and subscription-related features.

For someone trying to turn an established podcast into a larger business, these tools can become very useful.

Pricing

Pricing is where the comparison gets interesting.

Buzzsprout currently offers an annual Audio plan at the equivalent of $15 per month, with 72 hours of upload allowance per year. Its Audio + Video plan costs the equivalent of $25 per month when billed annually.

There are also multi-podcast options. Buzzsprout’s free plan gives beginners a way to test the platform before committing.

Blubrry’s new pricing starts lower. The Standard 1.5 plan costs $7 per month and allows 1.5 hours of audio or video publishing each month.

Standard 3 costs $15 per month for three hours. Advanced 6 costs $25 per month for six hours. There are then larger plans for creators publishing much more content.

Libsyn’s Basic plan costs $12 per month and includes three hours of new audio uploads each month.

Advanced costs $25 per month and includes 10 hours. Max costs $150 per month and supports 55 hours.

Libsyn also offers an $8 bare-essentials option. Don’t simply choose whichever number is lowest. Calculate how much content you’ll actually publish.

Which Has the Best Pricing?

For a very small podcast, Blubrry’s $7 entry plan is attractive. Suppose you publish two 30-minute episodes every month. That’s only about one hour of content.

You may not need a larger hosting package. For a normal weekly show, compare the next tiers carefully. Libsyn’s $12 Basic plan includes three hours of new audio each month.

Blubrry’s Standard 3 gives you three hours for $15.

Buzzsprout’s annual Audio plan works out to $15 per month with 72 hours of yearly allowance. Things change again when you’re publishing a lot.

Libsyn’s $25 Advanced plan includes 10 hours of new audio per month, while Blubrry’s $25 Advanced 6 plan provides six hours. The price tag alone doesn’t tell you the whole story.

Ease of Use

Buzzsprout wins this category for me. Its platform is built around making podcast hosting approachable. That’s particularly valuable when you’re publishing your first show.

  • Upload the episode.
  • Add the details.
  • Publish it.
  • Look at your statistics.

You don’t need to become a podcast-hosting expert.

Blubrry can also be straightforward, especially if you’re already comfortable with WordPress.

PowerPress may actually make Blubrry feel easier for an experienced WordPress user because podcast publishing becomes part of a familiar workflow.

Libsyn offers plenty of tools and control, but its broader ecosystem may feel like more than a beginner needs on day one.

If simplicity is your top priority, I’d start with Buzzsprout.

WordPress Integration

Blubrry is the clear winner here. PowerPress is one of the company’s signature products. It lets you create podcast-ready RSS feeds, add media players, manage episodes, and connect Blubrry hosting and statistics with WordPress.

This matters if you’re building a larger website around your podcast. Maybe you publish articles. Maybe you want detailed show notes. Perhaps you’re building an email list. Or you’re creating a content business where the podcast is only one part of the site.

In that situation, Blubrry’s WordPress approach makes a lot of sense.

Buzzsprout and Libsyn both provide website and embedding tools, but Blubrry’s PowerPress ecosystem gives it a particular advantage for WordPress publishers.

Podcast Analytics

All three platforms provide statistics. Buzzsprout’s paid plans include advanced statistics that help you understand downloads and audience behavior.

For most independent podcasters, these will provide plenty of useful information. Blubrry also has a strong reputation around podcast analytics.

Its Standard plans include standard podcast statistics, while Advanced plans provide more detailed statistics.

Libsyn includes IAB-verified analytics across its main hosting plans. Basic gets basic IAB-verified statistics, while Advanced and Max include more detailed analytics.

If you’re just starting, don’t become obsessed with analytics. Your first goal is making good episodes consistently.

But once sponsors and advertising become involved, reliable measurement becomes much more important. That’s where more advanced analytics start earning their place.

Video Podcasting

Video podcasting is becoming difficult to ignore. All three hosts have responded. Buzzsprout’s Audio + Video plan allows creators to publish video to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube while managing audio and video through the same service.

Blubrry’s current time-based plans support both audio and video publishing, including distribution to major destinations.

Libsyn includes video hosting across its main plans.

Its plans currently include up to 100GB of video uploads each month, which Libsyn estimates at roughly 50 hours.

YouTube video distribution is included with Basic, while Advanced and Max also support Spotify video distribution.

If you’re building a video-first podcast, compare the exact destinations and workflow you need rather than simply looking for the word “video.”

Monetization

All three hosts provide ways to make money from podcasts. Buzzsprout offers Listener Support, Subscriptions, and Buzzsprout Ads.

This gives independent creators several ways to experiment with revenue without leaving the hosting ecosystem.

Blubrry includes monetization features on eligible plans and also supports premium podcasting and more advanced advertising tools through its professional services.

Libsyn has developed one of the more substantial monetization ecosystems.

Its tools include Automatic Podcast Ads, host-read advertising opportunities, PodRoll, and Apple Podcasts Subscriptions integration.

Libsyn says it has paid more than $112 million to podcast creators through its monetization operation since 2017.

If monetization is already an important part of your business, I’d look closely at Libsyn. If you’re starting with 20 listeners, concentrate on growing the show first.

Podcast Websites

All three can give your podcast a home on the web. Buzzsprout’s paid plans include a premium podcast website. You can also use custom embed players to put episodes on another website.

Libsyn provides a customizable website that automatically connects with your podcast information.

Blubrry takes things further by including a managed WordPress website with its hosting plans.

Again, that makes Blubrry particularly attractive to people who want a more traditional website around their podcast.

For a beginner who simply needs somewhere for people to find episodes, any of the three can work.

Multiple Podcasts

This is something to think about before your first show turns into five. Buzzsprout now offers multi-podcast plans.

Current monthly options include hosting up to five podcasts with a shared 15-hour allowance or up to ten podcasts with a larger shared allowance.

Blubrry has professional hosting for networks and businesses managing several shows.

Its Pro Hosting currently starts at $100 per month and includes unlimited monthly audio and video publishing, with additional shows available for an extra fee.

Libsyn also provides professional and enterprise options for larger podcast organizations. If you’re building a network, don’t compare only the normal beginner plans.

Final Thoughts

Libsyn, Blubrry, and Buzzsprout are all capable podcast hosts. The differences become important when you look at your own workflow.

If you’re recording one weekly podcast and don’t want to think about technical details, Buzzsprout is difficult to ignore.

If you already run a WordPress website and want your podcast integrated closely with it, Blubrry has a major advantage.

And if your podcast is becoming a business, Libsyn’s combination of analytics, advertising, distribution, and professional hosting tools becomes increasingly attractive.

Your listeners don’t care which company hosts your RSS feed. They care whether the next episode is worth listening to. Pick a host that makes publishing easier, then get back to making the show.
