A trucker’s headset has a much harder job than an ordinary Bluetooth headset. Inside a truck cab, you’re dealing with engine noise, tires hitting the road, wind, air conditioning, traffic, and sometimes an open window. Your headset needs to separate your voice from all of that noise so the person on the other end of the call can actually understand you.

Comfort matters just as much.

Professional drivers can spend hours on the road every day. A headset that feels fine during a ten-minute phone call can become uncomfortable after several hours. Then there’s battery life.

The last thing you want during a long route is a headset that needs to be charged halfway through the day.

For most professional drivers, the BlueParrott Pro B450 is my favorite overall trucker headset. It’s the newer version of BlueParrott’s popular B450 design and uses AI-powered voice isolation that BlueParrott says can block 98% of background noise.

If you want a proven older model, the BlueParrott B450-XT remains a strong choice. Drivers who want both mono and stereo listening should consider the S650-XT, while the Shokz OpenComm2 is particularly interesting if you prefer an open-ear design.

What is the Best Trucker Headsets?

Here are the best trucker headsets to consider.

1. BlueParrott Pro B450 – Best Trucker Headset Overall

The BlueParrott Pro B450 is designed specifically with professional drivers in mind. That’s important because many Bluetooth headsets are primarily built for offices. A truck is a completely different environment.

BlueParrott’s newer Pro B450 uses AI-powered voice isolation microphones designed to block up to 98% of background noise.

That means the microphone is trying to focus on your voice while reducing road, engine, and wind noise before the person you’re speaking with hears it.

The Pro series also offers more than 40 hours of talk time, making it particularly attractive to long-haul drivers.

There’s active noise cancellation for what you hear as well. These are two different things. Microphone noise cancellation makes your voice clearer for the other person.

Active noise cancellation reduces some of the background sound that you hear through the headset.

For a professional driver who spends a large part of the working day taking calls, that combination is extremely useful.

2. BlueParrott B450-XT – Best Proven Trucker Headset

The B450-XT has been one of BlueParrott’s most recognizable trucker headsets. It’s a mono Bluetooth headset with a large ear cushion and boom microphone.

BlueParrott rates its microphone for 96% background-noise cancellation. That is the main reason this type of headset works so well for trucking. You don’t necessarily need amazing music reproduction.

You need the dispatcher, customer, or family member on the other end of the call to hear your voice instead of the truck. The B450-XT is also designed around extended wear.

The large padded ear cushion and adjustable headband make more sense for long calls than tiny in-ear Bluetooth devices for many drivers.

BlueParrott’s newer Pro B450 has now moved ahead with more advanced AI-based voice isolation, but the B450-XT remains worth considering if you find it at a good price.

3. BlueParrott S650-XT – Best Stereo Trucker Headset

Most traditional trucker headsets cover only one ear. There’s a good reason for that. Keeping one ear uncovered helps you remain aware of what’s happening around you.

But when you’re parked for the night, you might want a normal stereo headset for music, movies, or other entertainment.

The BlueParrott S650-XT gives you both options. It’s convertible between stereo and mono configurations.

While working, you can use it as a mono headset. When you’re safely parked and want to relax, you can switch to stereo listening.

The S650-XT also has a microphone that BlueParrott rates for 96% background-noise cancellation.

It includes active noise cancellation and provides up to 36 hours of talk time. BlueParrott also gives it an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.

This is one of the most versatile choices for drivers who want one headset for work and entertainment.

4. BlueParrott B650-XT – Best Premium Mono Trucker Headset

If you like the features of the S650-XT but don’t need stereo, consider the B650-XT. It’s a premium mono headset designed specifically for high-noise environments.

Like the S650-XT, its microphone is rated to reduce 96% of background noise. It also includes active noise cancellation.

That’s an important distinction from some cheaper trucker headsets. The microphone’s noise cancellation helps the caller hear you. ANC helps reduce distracting environmental noise for you.

BlueParrott rates the B650-XT for up to 36 hours of talk time and wireless range reaching up to 300 feet or 100 meters under suitable conditions.

That extended range can be useful when you’re outside the cab checking your truck while your phone remains inside.

5. Shokz OpenComm2 – Best Open-Ear Trucker Headset

Some drivers don’t like having an ear covered for hours. The Shokz OpenComm2 takes a completely different approach.

Instead of putting a speaker over or inside your ear, it uses bone-conduction technology and an open-ear design.

Your ears remain uncovered. That’s useful when environmental awareness is a priority.

The OpenComm2 also includes a DSP noise-canceling boom microphone designed to make your voice clearer during calls.

Shokz rates it for up to 16 hours of talk time and up to eight hours of listening. A five-minute quick charge can provide up to two hours of additional talk time. The headset weighs only around 35 grams and carries an IP55 water-resistance rating.

The downside is that an open-ear headset doesn’t isolate your ears from truck noise the way an over-ear design can. But if comfort and awareness matter most, it’s a very interesting alternative.

6. BlueParrott Pro B350 – Best Lightweight BlueParrott Headset

The Pro B450 isn’t the only newer BlueParrott option. The Pro B350 is designed to provide many of the same benefits in a lighter package.

It uses BlueParrott’s newer AI voice-isolation technology, which the company says blocks up to 98% of background noise.

That’s particularly useful if you like BlueParrott’s strong microphone performance but don’t want a larger headset sitting on your head throughout the day.

For truckers, weight can become surprisingly important. A difference that seems tiny when you first put on a headset can become much more noticeable several hours later. If all-day comfort is your biggest concern, the Pro B350 deserves consideration.

7. BlueParrott B250-XTS SE – Best Simple Trucker Headset

Not every driver needs the latest AI processing or active noise cancellation. Sometimes you just want a straightforward Bluetooth headset with a good noise-canceling microphone.

The BlueParrott B250-XTS SE fills that role. BlueParrott currently rates its microphone for 91% noise cancellation.

That’s below the 96% figure associated with several XT models and the 98% figure advertised for the newer Pro series.

But it still provides the basic design that has made BlueParrott popular among professional drivers.

You get a mono over-the-head design with a boom microphone intended for noisy environments.

If you’re upgrading from an ordinary consumer Bluetooth earpiece, even a simpler truck-focused headset can be a major improvement.

8. BlueParrott M500-XT – Best Compact Trucker Headset

Some drivers simply don’t want a large headset. The BlueParrott M500-XT is designed to provide a more compact alternative.

It uses a mono design with a boom microphone and is significantly less bulky than BlueParrott’s larger over-the-head models. BlueParrott says its microphone filters out 93% of background noise.

That puts it below models such as the Pro B450 in terms of claimed noise reduction, but the smaller design may be worth the tradeoff for certain drivers.

A compact headset is easier to carry and less noticeable during extended use. The choice really comes down to priorities.

If maximum microphone noise reduction matters most, buy one of the larger professional-driver models. If portability matters more, a compact design may be better.

Final Thoughts

The best trucker headset isn’t the one with the best music quality. It’s the headset that lets someone hear you clearly while you’re sitting inside a noisy truck.

That’s why the BlueParrott Pro B450 is my favorite overall trucker headset. BlueParrott’s current Pro series combines AI-powered voice isolation that the company says blocks 98% of background noise with more than 40 hours of talk time and features designed specifically around professional drivers.

The older B450-XT remains a strong option if you want BlueParrott’s familiar mono design and 96% noise-canceling microphone.

For drivers who want more versatility, the S650-XT is particularly interesting because it converts between mono and stereo operation and provides up to 36 hours of talk time.

And if wearing a traditional headset all day bothers you, the Shokz OpenComm2 offers a lightweight 35-gram open-ear design with a noise-canceling boom microphone and up to 16 hours of talk time.

Whatever model you choose, prioritize microphone clarity, comfort, and battery life.
